About the Brainjo Jam Sessions (fingerstyle)

The All New Brainjo Jam!

Below you’ll find backing tracks for your practicing pleasure (and presently new tracks are being added often)!

These are intended for players of all levels (especially beginning and intermediate!), and you are encouraged to use them early and often. They are indispensable for working on all aspects of banjo playing (see the first video in the playlist below titled “How To Use The Jam Tracks” to understand how to utilize them at every stage in your development).

You’ll note two playlists below. The first playlist contains the main jam tracks, which do not have a banjo part included (that part is for you). The second playlist has a demonstration of a banjo part.

On this page you’ll also find “lead sheets” for the songs, which provide you all the “raw materials” needed to jam. These contain a melody tab, lyrics (where applicable), and the chord progression.

All of these songs are also in the Breakthrough Banjo Vault, where you’ll find tabs for a lead break. However, as covered in the video below, you are encouraged to use these to work on the myriad musical skills beyond being able to play a break learned from tab (which are ultimately what make you a better player!).
